Punjab Launches its MICS Report 2018 at Local Hotel, Lahore

Punjab Finance Minister Makhdum Hashim Jawan Bakht said the Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS) findings report has highlighted severe regional disparities which the present government will bridge through its commitment to regional equalization and equal opportunities for all.

He was addressing the launching ceremony of Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS) Report 2017-18 organized by the Bureau of Statistics, Planning & Development Board Punjab in collaboration with UNICEF Pakistan at Local Hotel Lahore. Provincial Finance Minister Makhdum Hashim Jawan Bakht formally launched on Thursday, the Punjab MICS report which was part of the Nationally Coordinated MICS.

Addressing the ceremony, Finance Minister stated he is pleased that through the coordinated efforts of Planning and Development Board, Unicef, Bureau of Statistics and under the leadership of Chairman P&D Board, Secretary P&D and Chief Economist Punjab, we now have a reliable and thorough set of data that can be used to inform the Planning and Development process of the province. He said that the government is sensitive to every rupee spent and every single penny of the public money will be utilized for desired results. He also hoped that academicians and researchers should use the MICs data to inform on what kind of development interventions were effective in the past and also identify areas where public money was misspent. On the occasion, Chairman P&D Board Habib ur Rehman Gillani, congratulating the Bureau of Statistics team, said that Planning and Development Board is committed to the human development agenda and the MICs data will be key to inform, facilitate and support our planning initiatives in these areas.
