The 19th Meeting of the Provincial External Financing Assessment Committee (PEFAC)

The 19th Meeting of the Provincial External Financing Assessment Committee (PEFAC) was held at the P&D Board to discuss the "Proposed Punjab Clean Air Program."
Secretary of the Planning and Development Board, Dr. Asif Tufail, chaired the meeting.
The committee convened to deliberate on the concept proposal for the "Punjab Clean Air Program," which is to be funded by the World Bank.
During the meeting, representatives from the Transport Department, Environment Department, Punjab Small Industries Corporation, Energy Department and others concerned provided valuable insights into the program's objectives and potential impact.
Secretary P&D Board Dr. Asif Tufail emphasized the need for an integrated approach to tackle air pollution, stating, This program aims to enhance environmental health and improve the quality of life for our citizens. It is essential that we align our efforts with international standards and local needs.
The committee reviewed the preliminary framework of the program, which aims to implement sustainable practices in transport and industry, alongside public awareness campaigns to educate citizens on air quality issues.
The PEFAC will continue to assess and refine the proposal, ensuring that it meets the developmental needs of Punjab while adhering to environmental sustainability.
Chief Economist Mr Masood Anwar, Member Agriculture Mr Aslam Javaid, Member Energy Mr Sadaqat Hussain, MD PSIC Ms Saira Omar, Additional Secretary EPD Mr Tariq Hussain, MD PEECA Mr Abdur Rehman and others experts participated.
