The PDWP approves mega schemes of the transport sector at an approximate cost of Rs 43 Billion

 
Chairman Planning and Development Board, Barrister Nabeel Ahmad Awan chaired the 39th meeting of PDWP CFY 2024-25 held at the P&D Board, Punjab.
The Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) approved significant development schemes of the transport sector, amounting to approximately Rs 43 billion.These mega schemes involve the induction of Eco-friendly buses in five major cities of Punjab including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan, Faisalabad, and Bahawalpur.
The main purpose of these schemes is to enhance public transportation while promoting environmental sustainability. By introducing eco-friendly buses. Furthermore , the program aims to reduce air pollution, alleviate traffic congestion, and provide a reliable, efficient mode of transportation for residents. This initiative is expected to improve the quality of urban life, making public transport more accessible and attractive to commuters aiming to align with global environmental standards and contribute to the overall well-being of its citizens.
The meeting was attended by Secretary P&D Board, Dr. Asif Tufail, Secretary Transport Mr Ahmed Javed Qazi, Chief Economist Mr Masood Anwar, members of the P&D Board and other senior officers attended the meeting.
