Secretary P&D Board, Dr. Asif Tufail, chaired a meeting with the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) to discuss the project proposal, "Improving Dairy Value Chain for Enhancing Food Security in Punjab," which is funded by AICS through a grant.
The Head of AICS Pakistan, Mr. Francesco Zatta, briefed the Chair on the project proposal. He explained that the project aims to enhance the dairy value chain by establishing Farmer Milk Organizations (FMOs) and equipping them with Milk Collection Centers (MCCs) equipped with chillers, pasteurizers, and processing equipment. This initiative will particularly support small farmers, vulnerable groups, and women.
The Secretary P&D Board Dr Asif Tufail acknowledged the comprehensive details of the proposal and suggested further negotiations with the AICS team to recommend adjustments in line with the requirements of the livestock department.
Secretary livestock Mr Saqib Ali Ateel, Joint Secretary (Paris Club), Ministry of Economic Affairs Ms. Farah Farooq, Member Agriculture Mr Aslam Javaid, Sr Chief ECA Ms Saba Asghar and others concerned participated.
