🌱 CM’s Plant for Punjab & Agro Forestry Initiatives: Progress & Targets Discussed! 🌱

Secretary P&D Board Dr. Asif Tufail chaired the meeting, with the Punjab Forest Department Special Secretary Cpt. (R) Tahir Zafar Abbasi briefed the Chair on the progress of the Chief Minister’s Plant for Punjab initiative, with a focus on the target of planting 7 million trees in the current fiscal year. The department has already successfully planted 1.2 million trees so far, but the Chair emphasized the need to accelerate the pace to meet the ambitious target. Additionally, the Chair discussed the CM's initiative for Agro Forestry on forest wasteland, aiming to utilize unused forest land for sustainable farming practices. The Chair stated that this initiative will not only address the environmental issues but also will provide new livelihood opportunities for communities. Sr. Chief Consultancy Ms. Shafaq Saleem, Chief Environment Ms. Saba Asghar, Chief Technical Mr. Abid Inayat Sheikh, Sr. Chief Energy Mr. Tariq Javed and other concerned officers were also present in the meeting.
