The 8th Project Steering Committee Meeting for the Project Readiness Financing and Punjab Water Resource Management was chaired by Secretary P&D Board Dr. Asif Tufail. The project aims to carry out essential preparatory work in advance of a series of major initiatives to enhance water availability and increase agricultural productivity in Punjab. The Chair thoroughly reviewed the project's current status. He emphasized that irrigation is one of the major sectors in Punjab, and a long-term plan is essential to ensure smooth operations. He also highlighted that the major canals and hill torrents in Punjab are vital resources for water management. Therefore, we should develop a comprehensive and flawless plan to enhance water availability and its use for agriculture. Member Water Mr. Mohsin Abbas Shakir, Additional Secretary Irrigation Mr. Khurram Amin, Chief Irrigation Mr. Ijaz, and representatives from the P&D Board, PMO Barrages, and other concerned departments participated in the meeting.
