As part of the ongoing official visit to Germany, Dr. Naeem Rauf, Chairman, Planning & Development Board Punjab, accompanied the delegation led by Mr. Zeeshan Rafique, Minister for Local Government & Community Development (LG&CDD), Government of Punjab. During the visit to Heidelberg Municipality, Chairman P&D Dr. Naeem Rauf engaged in discussions with city officials on innovative models of urban governance, citizen-centered municipal service delivery, and sustainable sanitation systems. He appreciated Heidelbergโ€™s commitment to community engagement and environmental sustainability, emphasizing the relevance of such approaches for improving service delivery in Punjabโ€™s urban centers. At the Mannheim Waste-to-Energy Plant, Chairman P&D Board Dr. Naeem Rauf took keen interest in learning about the facilityโ€™s solid waste conversion into electricity and heat, its operational efficiency, and environmental safeguards. He highlighted Punjabโ€™s focus on adopting modern waste management and renewable energy solutions to enhance municipal service delivery and environmental resilience. Chairman P&D Board Dr. Naeem Rauf also appreciated the support of BMZ and GIZ for facilitating this knowledge exchange, noting that such partnerships play a vital role in advancing Punjabโ€™s urban development and green energy agenda.
