Chairman Planning and Development Board Mr. Ali Sarfraz Hussain presided over a meeting to set the climate change agenda (Policy and Practice) in Punjab.
Under the auspices of the International Growth Centre (IGC), the Consortium for Development Policy Research (CDPR) intends to organise workshops/seminars with the participation of all stakeholders to establish a climate change agenda for Punjab in order to effectively address issues such as resilient and sustainable cities, affordable and sustainable energy, agriculture, and food security.
A MoU between the P&D Board and CDPR was signed for this purpose by Secretary P&D Board Mr. Sohail Anwar and CEO CDPR Ms. Zara Salman.
The Potential areas of collaboration with P&D Board & CDPR on climate change are jointly identifying knowledge and policy gap in government approach to climate change, develop a dissemination platform to create awareness of climate challenges & current climate policy landscape, co-brand knowledge products such as policy briefs/notes to create ownership and awareness on issues related to climate change, co-host workshops, seminar and policy talks to build consensus amongst stakeholders, jointly develop a call to action on policy issues around climate change, engage international and local researchers with policymakers for exchange of ideas and information, co-generated policy-focused research to feed into decision making and highlight best practices being adopted by policymakers.
Secretary EPD Mr. Sajid Mahmood, Member (Water/Environment) Dr. Abid Bodla, Member (SI) Mr.Shafiq Ahmad, Chief Environment Ms.Saba Asghar, CEO Urban Unit Mr. Omar Masud, and representatives from LG&CD, Agriculture, Irrigation, Energy, Transport, Forestry, Livestock, Urban Unit, CDPR, IGC and others attended the meeting. 27.07.2023
