Chairman P&D Board Mr Iftikhar Ali Sahoo chaired a meeting to discuss roadmap to mobilize carbon training, intervention for 3 key wildlife ecosystem of Punjab (Cholistan, Salt Range, Indus & Wetlands), Urban & Peri Urban Planning to Fight Smog, and Lahore Zoo & Safari Zoo.
The chair said that carbon markets can play a key role in reducing global greenhouse gas emissions cost-effectively due to that reason the number of emissions trading systems around the world is increasing.He said that
the voluntary carbon market enables the trading of carbon credits granted to people and businesses who have eliminated, avoided, or limited atmospheric greenhouse gases (GHGs).
The chair further said that carbon markets are most important trading systems that are offered through the compliance market for more cost-effective methods of lowering overall carbon emissions and lessening their impact on climate change.Therefore, we need to create a system that can handle the current circumstance and approach it strategically. 20.10.2023
