The P&D Board Punjab, in collaboration with the Ministry of Climate Change & Environmental Coordination (MoCC&EC) and the Global Climate Change Impact Studies Centre (GCISC), organized the 2nd Provincial Consultation Workshop to support the preparation of NDC 3.0 Pakistanโs renewed commitment under the Paris Agreement. ๐ต๐ฐ Secretary P&D Board, Mr. Rafaqat Ali, and Senior Chief (Environment & Climate Change), Ms. Nadia Shafiq, graced the workshop with their presence. In his opening remarks, Secretary P&D Board Mr. Rafaqat Ali emphasized that climate change is no longer a distant threat it is a present reality. From devastating floods to relentless heatwaves and rising temperatures, every sector of life is being affected. The Government of Punjab is responding with determination through transformative initiatives such as the Chief Ministerโs Plantation Drive, wide-scale solarization programs, and the pioneering Carbon Credit Initiative. These efforts reflect the province's unwavering commitment to building a climate-resilient and sustainable Punjab. ๐ฑ The workshop aimed to: ๐น Collect sectoral data ๐น Refine climate policy recommendations ๐น Enhance coordination among departments to achieve NDC 3.0 targets ๐น Showcase Punjabโs climate achievements ๐น Align with Pakistanโs climate adaptation and mitigation goals under Article 13 of the Paris Agreement The Executive Director of the Global Climate Change Impact Studies Centre (GCISC), Mr. Muhammad Arif Goheer, joined the workshop online. Representatives from relevant Government of Pakistan departments, foreign partners, and other stakeholders also participated.
